If your birthday is in November before 22 November, your star sign is Scorpio. From 22 November onwards it is Sagittarius. The changeover can move by a day in some years, so for a birthday right on 22 November it's worth checking the year.
November zodiac sign dates
- Scorpio: 23 October to 21 November
- Sagittarius: 22 November to 21 December
Where the Sun really is in November
The Sun is in Libra until about 23 November, in Scorpius for less than a week, and in Ophiuchus from about 29 November. The Sun spends only about six days in Scorpius each year, the shortest stay of any zodiac constellation.
The November gap between sign and constellation comes from the slow wobble of the Earth's axis. The zodiac signs and constellations guide explains why Scorpio and Sagittarius have drifted, and Ophiuchus is the one the signs leave out.
What is in the November evening sky
November evenings have Aries and Pisces high in the south and the Pleiades rising in the east, with Orion climbing above the horizon by late evening.
Scorpio and Sagittarius in the sky
The brightest point of Scorpius is Antares, and of Sagittarius, Kaus Australis. Both are drawn in the series of twelve Scorpio constellation print and Sagittarius constellation print, in near-black, gold and warm ivory.
Scorpio and Sagittarius belong to different elements: the zodiac elements guide sorts all twelve signs into fire, earth, air and water.
