About this print
A great comet at perihelion, twin tails streaming, rendered in ice-white against the dark.
Comets have two tails. The curved, yellowish one is dust, left along the comet's path; the straight blue one is gas, pushed directly away from the Sun by the solar wind. Both are brightest around perihelion, the comet's closest point to the Sun.
This print is not a portrait of one named comet. It is the shape every bright comet takes on its way round, which makes it a good print for anyone who saw Hale-Bopp in 1997 or Halley's in 1986.
